Last week I spoke with my Sunday School students about the death of Jesus on the cross. I love to hear their thoughts and listen to them lovingly explain why Jesus died on the cross. One little girl said, "He loved us so much, He wouldn't come down." As I think of those words, I realize her simple explanation shows a very mature understanding of what Christ did for each one of us. Jesus took the pain of our sins. He suffered beating and torture, mocking and a brutal death on the cross. None of us are worthy of His loving sacrifice. I hope we can open our hearts, and thank God as we remember...

"We stand and lift up our hands...for the joy of the Lord is our strength", are words to a song we sang yesterday at church. How often we forget to praise God for His greatness. We seek Him and cry to Him in the weakness of our needs, knowing He is always there. But, sometimes we forget to lift our hands toward His loving arms, and thank Him for all He has done.
This is an important week ahead to consider what Christ did on the cross. Take a moment right now and lift your hands toward the one who came to save...He is deserving of our love and our praise. May you turn your eyes toward the cross and remember how very much you are loved...Have a happy Monday friends.

Faith comes in knowing storms will pass…The Bible say, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1) It may be possible that through our storms, God shows himself in ways which help us understand He is near…Perhaps the storms are needed to help us surrender those things in our lives in which we have no control…You can read more of this week's devotional "Trust in the Storm" on the Devotional Page. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. I am praying for you.

Hello Saturday, Hello Friends... Take a look around and notice God's blessings which peek out to welcome spring, and fill us with what we have been missing. The grass is becoming a little greener. The flowers are beginning to open their eyes, and reach for the sun which will warm them. Birds have arrived to greet what is ahead for us to enjoy.Today there will be no doubt of God's provisions for us. He allows opportunities to embrace a spirit of content,as He rewards us with gifts to enjoy. God bless you.

Last night I was traveling home with a friend. We noticed there were several cars coming toward us,flashing their bright lights. As we slowed, trying to view what was ahead in the darkness, we came upon a large, deep truck liner in the middle of the road. The car ahead hit it, and veered off the road, into the ditch. It was frightening to think about what might have happened. After we realized everything was okay, we said a grateful "thank you God." I believe God sends His angels to protect us, and remind us He is near. May God surround you with His angels, and allow you to embrace a grateful heart as you travel on this Friday and remember He is in control.

I am running late...Oh how I wish I could kick it into high gear as I prepare for the day. I seem to be moving in slow motion, even though I realize there is much to be done. Sometimes I think it's ashame we become use to moving fast. Life passes quickly...We miss opportunities to reflect on what's ahead, when we focus on the race and not on what prepares us to get there. My little students love to prepare projects. They take time to write, cut, glue and complete tasks. They are patient as they find joy in the process, not just the final product.
God wants to complete His work in us. Growing in Christ is a process. Maybe we need to slow down and allow Him to show us it will take time to glue all the pieces which will make us complete, and allow us to find joy as we prepare for the day ahead.

Good morning Lord...Help us remember there is nothing we cannot handle as we walk with you. From darkness, you brought light to this Wednesday, and purpose for each of us, as we move ahead in our lives. God, help us understand you are never far away. Help us remember to make ourselves available to you. Remind us we can call upon you to walk with us, and help us discover your will for our lives, as we fill our hearts with peace and continue to trust in you. Amen

Tuesday...Some say there is nothing special about the day that follows Monday...But, I know Tuesday will become what we choose to make of it... God wakes us to newness each morning, when we open our eyes. He needs for us to take time to call upon Him, as He helps us begin to see what lies ahead. Tuesday does not have to be an ordinary day. Consider how you will embrace this day, and allow God to move you ahead in His greatness. God can do great things when we walk with Him, and open our hearts to His will. He can show us great purpose, and help us discover Tuesday may be more than just the simple day which follows Monday. God bless you friends!

Good morning to you...Monday has come again. It's cold here in the midwest today. We've welcomed spring, but it doesn't feel like it. I am waiting for warmer weather...My daffodils wait for warmer weather too. They need sunshine to strenghten their weary stems which sag in the coldness. It's hard to be patient while we wait for better days to come. But, while we wait, God prepares us to welcome the sunshine. He helps us learn to appreciate its purpose so we can receive it with grateful hearts. Thank you God for each day you provide. Thank you for walking with us, especially while we wait...

Why I Love the Ocean...
|
 |
|
 |

I love the ocean, Lord...
I feel your loving presence, as I stand in awe of your greatness.
My heart cries to breathe in all which allows me to share the hope of your love.
Thank you God for words which flow like waves in my soul, rushing to greet me...
Each time I visit the ocean, you breathe new life into my being, and fill my heart with a message of love to share...
Thank you, Lord...

Nan's Pledge to You America Video
|
 |
|
 |
I'm thankful to live in a place where I am free, to choose who I will serve and worship faithfully. I'm proud of what I feel when I look across this land, and see the heart of good in those who understand that one nation under God is what we need. Listen to this simple tribute to America, and enjoy the voices of the children who pledge their love to our country.
